Answer

The Department of Health and its Arms-length bodies (ALB) are working to transition to net zero in line with the requirements of the Climate Change Act (CCA) (NI) 2022. The Department of Health continues to work with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), the lead department for climate change, in the development of the first Climate Action Plan (CAP) for NI. This CAP shall detail the policies, proposals, and actions for the first carbon budget period in line with the CCA (NI) requirements and support the transition to net zero.

For this first CAP, my department and its ALBs have developed priority actions for the ALBs to take forward and help deliver carbon emission reductions. The actions are focussed on the efficient use of assets, resources and reducing resource demand.
