Answer
Health and Social Care Trust have waste and asset management policies and procedures in place so that assets no longer required are disposed of in a safe and appropriate manner in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice guidance.
Assets may be deemed no longer required if surplus to requirements, obsolete, beyond economic repair or at the end of their useful life. Assets that remain serviceable may be transferred/sold to other bodies, including charities, subject to appropriate procedures being completed.
Any assessment on the opportunity to transfer/sell for reuse or refurbishment a medical device no longer required by the Trust would be undertaken by the Health Trust in line with their device management policies.
