Answer
The building of slurry tanks is a frequent requirement of farming operations and benefits from permitted development rights under Part 7 of Schedule 1 to the Planning (General Permitted Development) Order (Northern Ireland) 2015 subject to certain limitations and conditions. I have no plans to change the current permitted development rights for agricultural buildings and operations.
Where development is identified in either of the Schedules to the Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017 and Environmental Impact Assessment is applicable based on the details of the proposed development, permitted development rights do not apply and a planning application will be required.
