Answer
My Department does not maintain records by constituency area, however, the following table provides details of the number of carriageway, hard shoulder and layby surface defects (which includes potholes, cracking, depressions etc.) reported and repaired, in each of the last 5 years for the Antrim and Newtownabbey area:
| YEAR | DEFECTS REPORTED | DEFECTS REPAIRED |
| 2016/17 | 17014 | 8147 |
| 2017/18 | 15675 | 6580 |
| 2018/19 | 18479 | 10528 |
| 2019/20 | 16860 | 6827 |
| 2020/21 | 19198 | 8350 |
It should be noted that under the current ‘Limit Service’ arrangements, which are in place due to the significant budgetary shortfall, a large number of the recorded or reported defects do not meet the current intervention threshold for repair.
