Answer
Each year my Department publishes a report called the Statistical Review of Northern Ireland Agriculture. From the latest report it can be seen that the quantity of animal feedstuffs purchased by the agriculture sector was 2.9 million tonnes in 2020. While this feedstuff is mainly purchased from feed firms based in Northern Ireland it is predominately based on raw materials that are imported. Overall, it is estimated that less than 10% of the feedstuffs purchased by the agriculture sector in Northern Ireland are based on raw materials that are locally grown.
