Answer

The safety of Translink staff and passengers remains my top priority following the recent bus attacks on our public transport network and I am thankful that no one has been hurt. However that does not detract from the danger faced by our bus drivers and passengers. Regardless of the issues in communities, attacking our public transport network is not the answer and it is only damaging services to the people who live in our communities.

In this regard, my officials continue to engage with their colleagues in the Department of Justice and the PSNI regarding safety matters for our public transport network. In addition, Translink continues to engage on a daily basis with the PSNI at a senior level to ensure the continued safety of customers, staff and services.
