Answer
The minimum requirements for electric vehicle charging infrastructure were originally set out in Article 8 of the European Union’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) for new residential and new and existing non-residential buildings. Following the British Government’s indication of its intention to comply with the Directive, transposition of the EPBD into legislation, is a devolved responsibility.
My Department is currently engaging with officials from other departments here and across these islands to examine the most effective way to bring forward the provision of EV Charging Infrastructure in dwellings into legislation.
