Answer

The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill was introduced to Parliament on 22 September 2022. Officials across the Department are engaging with officials in other administrations on this Bill. As the Bill is at an early stage in its progression through Parliamentary process, it will be subject to further discussion, debate and amendment.

You will be aware, however, due to the Northern Protocol, EU legislation relating to animal welfare continues to apply in Northern Ireland. Furthermore, the welfare of animals in Northern Ireland continues to be protected by the Welfare of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2011.
