Answer

My Department records compensation payment information by Roads Section Office and Council area rather than by constituency, however the Antrim and Newtownabbey Section Office area broadly aligns with the South Antrim constituency. Also our accounting system does not record the cause of incidents that lead to compensation payments so it is not possible to identify the amount paid that specifically relates to potholes. The table therefore provides details of the compensation paid on public liability claims for all carriageway and footway defects relating to personal injury, vehicle damage and property damage claims, received by my Department in each of the last 5 full financial years, for the Antrim and Newtownabbey Section Office area.
