Answer
I am actively considering my animal welfare priorities for the remainder of the mandate, including the measures you have highlighted.
To ensure the most pressing issues are addressed, I have already met with members of the Northern Ireland Companion Animal Welfare Group to outline my proposals and listen to their feedback. Further meetings will be planned for early in the New Year including with local councils and the veterinary associations.
Following this engagement, it is my intention to publish a programme of animal welfare reforms which I wish to see delivered within the time remaining in this mandate.
